Installation

  1. Install from your shell (answer y to add the marketplace)

What does youtube-side-player do?

  • /yt <url | id | search> searches YouTube and plays the top hit
  • Inline video with sound in the side pane on Ghostty or kitty outside tmux
  • Floating always-on-top macOS window everywhere else; /yt pos moves it
  • /yt pause, resume, stop, hide and show control playback
  • Fetches checksum-verified yt-dlp and ffmpeg into the plugin's data folder if they are missing

What do you need?

  • Claude Code 2.1.287 or later (terminal)
  • macOS
  • Ghostty or kitty for inline video (otherwise a popout window)
