What does lightning do?

  • Seven skills: Studios, jobs, deployments, sandboxes, LLM gateway, artifacts and cost estimation
  • Live progress bars above the prompt for running Lightning jobs and Studio runs
  • A watch_job tool that starts the progress poller outside the sandbox
  • Sends Claude a message for job events that need a reply
  • Cost estimation with live per-hour GPU/CPU and spot prices

What do you need?

  • Claude Code 2.1.287 or later (terminal)
  • Lightning AI account (creates billed resources)
  • Python 3.11+ with uv or pip
  • lightning CLI from lightning-sdk
